Beautiful antique original armchairs originally designed by Josef Hoffman in 1904 for the Viennese cabaret Fledermaus. The armchairs have been extensively renovated. The fabric used refers to Art Nouveau.
Josef Hoffman (1870-1956) was a Moravian-Austrian architect and designer, originally a Moravian German. He designed furniture, fabrics, silver and metal objects, jewellery, glass and ceramics. He was an important figure of the Art Nouveau movement in Vienna and founder of the Wiener Werkstätte. His work is characterised by clean lines and geometric forms. Hoffman’s ability to combine modern design with traditional craftsmanship has left an unforgettable mark on furniture history.
Among other things, we can find several realisations here, for example the Poldi Kladno Social House (Poldihaus or Poldi Kladno Guest House) in Příčná Street No. 1533 is a listed building. It is one of the most valuable architectural monuments in the city. The building and the land have been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1958.
